Install Redpen Widget on a website

The complete step-by-step guide of how to install the Redpen Widget on your website.

Follow these easy steps to install the Redpen Widget.

  1. Sign in to the Redpen.

To create a Redpen Widget you have to sign in to Redpen. Skip this step if you are already signed in.

  1. Create Redpen Widget

Note: To create a widget and file issues to Jira, you should have at least one Jira site connected. Read the documentation to know how to connect to a Jira site to Redpen.

  1. Select a Jira site that is connected to Redpen.
  1. Open Widgets settings by clicking on the profile picture → Settings → Widgets. Click Create Widget button to create a new Redpen Widget.
  2. Add the name of the widget. This is the internal name and won’t show anywhere on the website.
  1. Click the Next button to fill out the configuration details

    Select the project in which you want to create the issue when feedback is received.
    Issue Type:
    Select the type of issue you want to create.
    Select who you want to be the reporter of the issue created from the widget. This field will be enabled if you have permission to add/edit a reporter.
    Add labels you want to have when the issues are created from the widget. It can help you filter out the issues created from the widget.
  1. Click the Next button to add website URLs on which you want to use the widget.  You can add a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 websites.
  1. Click Create button to create the widget. You will see the success page.

  1. Copy and paste the widget script code on your website.

Copy the script code and paste it to the website on which you want to use the Redpen Widget. You can send the script code directly to your developer.

  1. Redpen Widget on the website

Once the Redpen Widget script is added successfully to the website, you will see the Redpen Widget on the right side of your website.
